Indigo You Gemstones and Crystals Truth and MythsA recent discussion about Indigo Children and working with the Indigo Ray has prompted me to write this article. There are several sources on the internet promoting “rare and special” gemstones. Some of these are not really rare or from an alien planet but are actually a name someone made up in order to charge more for their product. When the price of a crystal or gemstone is higher than the price of gold and diamonds (per gram), I hope it raises a red flag in your mind and causes you to research further. Such was the case today.

A good friend sells gemstones and crystals on the internet, so I asked her about the claims of this particular site. Her response was one of indignation on behalf of those who might believe the claims and end up injured. The rock that is being touted as “rare and special” and “with alien qualities” is, in fact, a form of hematite. Hematite (all hematite) contains iron. This particular stone contains 40% iron by scientific analysis, which means that following the instructions by this source to ingest it, either by licking it or letting it sit in water and then drinking the water and (hopefully) also ingesting some of the dust (mica) could potentially result in death.

I urge you to be cautious and research when you come across some of these claims. Like any “cure all” – including Western medications – it is important that we take self responsibility to do “due diligence” when it comes to our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.

There are, in fact, reliable and trustworthy resources for information on crystals and gemstones, and their use in healing (on all levels).  I’m going to list a few here and urge you to check them out, then comment on your results. If you know of other reliable sources, please add them to the comments and I will check them to add to this list. I will also include a link to Amazon where you can find these books.

All of the Love Is In The Earth books by Melody are wonderful resources. Melody has a scientific background and has worked closely with shamans throughout the world.

Gemisphere Luminary by Michael Katz is another excellent resource. Michael travels the world in search of the highest quality stones. This book tells of lessons from the Gemstone Guardians (and it’s a good read, too).

Both of these authors are reliable and have written multiple books about gemstones and their qualities, abilities, and the ways they can be used for healing.  I’ve done a search for you, so hHere are the promised links to Amazon.
